Sundry Sunday :: my urban dictionary: vampire family

7 Oct

Def.: This is shamelessly ripped out of True Blood, and that is blatantly obvious, but honestly, because of the places that I live right now, the dynamic of a vampire family is the one I love the most.  IRL, this clearly does not involve the sucking of blood or anything wacky like that: rather, it is a term that should be used to describe people that you are not actually related to, but that you consider family; furthermore, these are people that, despite the family thing, which can take many forms, it is completely acceptable and not weird to engage in harmless flirtation and checking out and whatnot with them.

I should note that there are plenty of people that I consider to be my not-blood family wholly, but I don’t necessarily consider to be my vampire family, because of this difference in dynamic.

Usage: It isn’t weird when one of my friends invites her boyfriend to check out how I look in corsets, because despite the fact that I consider them my sister and brother respectively, and they are dating, they are my vampire family, and it is all meant with honest affection.
