Whedon Wednesday :: freaking finally, Dollhouse comics

28 Jul

I have literally been waiting for these since the preview in the season two DVDs.  I do not care what anyone may ever say, I love Dollhouse with all my heart and I always have, as I’m sure is evident.  I didn’t actually cry when I heard the cancellation notice, but I was very very cranky the rest of the day?  So the comics are sort of a saving grace.  Especially because as much as I love the normalverse of the show, I worship at the altar of the Epitaphverse.  It’s seriously one of my favorite things ever; I love apocalypses, I love Joss, I love this ‘verse as a whole, I just… so much good.

So.  Here’s my nonspoiler review of the extended one-shot and the first issue of the comics.  In a brief inarticulate burst of words GORRAMIT SOOOO AUGHHHH HOLY DAMN GOOD.

In more articulate detail, I… just want to hug Mag.  Felicia Day’s character.  I mean, I’ve always had a soft spot for her (both of the characters my friends gave me in the normalverse of the show, Bennett and Mellie, are, y’know, dead by now, so they agreed I can also dibs Mag).  But reading the comic?  Oh, baby, I just… can I reach into the panel and hug you?  Please?  You need a hug.

Zone is a badass.  He’s not quite the snarky snarkbastard he is in the show, yet, but he’s totally getting there.  I’m looking forward to it.

Hurrah, a little more of Griff aka That “Epitaph One” Guy Who Died And Stuff.  I mean, I’m not too attached to him, yet, but I like when people who die get to exist more.

Oh and now that kid from the preview makes way more sense.  The techheads they are born~

Also, ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA I LOVE YOU YOU PSYCHO BASTARD GENIUS.  He’s just one of those characters who’s delicious to observe for me.  He’s just a twisted twisted fellow, but he’s got really good intentions and that’s awesome.

And IVYYYYY MY BABYGIRL all I have to say about Ivy is there are giggles and then there’s a FFFFFUUUU SOMEONE JUST GOT JOSSED.  (Spoilerish?)

In short, I cannot wait until August 10 or shortly thereafter when I get my hands on the next issue.  Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, you’re my favorite people.

–your fangirl heroine.
